100 frames of 16mm film, roughly the length of a subway window, are chronologically organized across the image left to right, parallel to the train’s path forward.


As a result, time is no longer a passive element of the viewing experience but rather imbued into the image itself. The movement of the train isn’t constrained to the perspective of the frame; instead, it shakes and warps the foundations of the structures within it.

Unexpectedly a new perspective emerges: objects closer to us are flattened and abstracted, while those further away are distorted but remain in tact. Which objects and symbols transform, and which remain the same? A subway becomes a slinky. Dust crashes like waves.
